Actors for Human Rights 'Asylum Dialogues' |
| Description: |
A performance by professional actors about asylum seekers living in the UK. Followed by a panel Q&A session. Entry £3 at the door [free entry to the unwaged and students]. All proceeds to charities for human rights and asylum seekers. Actors for Human Rights is a network of over 400 professional actors who are dedicated to drawing public attention to contemporary human rights concerns. They respond to requests for rehearsed readings of their documentary plays and can go anywhere at any time. All language used in the scripts is recorded from real life. See their website at http://iceandfire.co.uk/ The 'Asylum Dialogues' script highlights some of the many acts of solidarity shown by British people towards asylum seekers living alongside them. Drawn from real life conversations with three pairs of friends - one an asylum seeker and the other a British citizen - this play explores the positive transformations created by their encounters with each other. < |
