Would you like a little bit of help with something? Linkwell good neighbour scheme could be able to help you. We could visit you if you are lonely, days can be very long if no one is there to have a chat to, or perhaps you need a dog or pet looking after for a short period maybe because you are unwell, or you need to go to hospital for a while.
We could help you with those difficult household jobs such as changing a light bulb or a battery in a smoke detector, such minor jobs that are easy if you are fit and able but quite a task if you are elderly or a bit unsteady on your feet.
What about those difficult forms that seem to appear from time to time, maybe we could help you with them.
Perhaps you would like transport, a lift to the Doctors or to an outpatients clinic at hospital, we could help with this (unfortunately a 45 pence per mile charge would apply) or we could help if you need to go to the shops
We are LINKWELL good neighbour scheme, a local volunteer group to help people with these problems. The scheme is set up under the guidance of officers from the Community Lincs organisation. There are schemes being formed in other areas and some schemes have been running for a while.
We will cover Aslackby, Billingborough, Dowsby, Horbling, Pointon and Threekingham and their parishes
All you need to do is ring the phone number, do not worry if no one answers, someone will ring you back as soon as possible (Modern phones record the number, so don’t use a number withheld telephone). When they ring back tell them what you would like and we will try to match a volunteer with your needs
All our volunteers have been DBS (or CRB) checked.
We are confidential, therefore your personal circumstances are private and respected and will be treated as such.
However the first visit by Linkwell will be by two volunteers, this is to ensure that our volunteers are safe and that our client is genuine.
The phrase client is not what we wish to use as it is a bit formal, we prefer the term neighbour!
All volunteers will have an ID card, and you can ring the control phone to verify. Volunteers will have other telephone numbers that you can ring to verify as well.
A couple of important points, we are not carers, nor are we an emergency service, and we will not undertake tasks that should be done by a qualified person. We will not visit uninvited.
