Winterton Town Sign

Entry to Winterton from south east [direction of Ermine Street]

Winterton is located 7 miles north-east of Scunthorpe within the unitary authority of North Lincolnshire. The town of Winterton has been a significant settlement in northern Lincolnshire over many centuries. The weekly market and annual fair were noted from 1334 but they no longer exist. It is a mixed community which offers a range of small shops and local businesses though many people work in the surrounding towns. There is a Church of England infant school as well as a junior school and a secondary comprehensive school. The annual Winterton Show is a major event and there are many other community activities.
