Jamie and Linda's Farewell
We had a lovely farewell service and tea for Jamie and Linda on Sunday 9th December at Tealby and the church was packed with many of those who had been a part of their ministry and activities during Jamie's Curacy with the Walesby Group. Jamie and Linda had chosen readings and hymns that were special to them and which reflected the hope that they hold, both for their future ministry, and for the continuation of the work of everyone in the Walesby Group. At the end of the service they received a blessing from the whole ministry team and were also presented with gifts from the Group. The photograph shows them holding a print of Lincoln Cathedral, (where Jamie was of course ordained); we also gave them engraved wine glasses from the cathedral together with a box of wines from Claxbys vineyard for them to enjoy, and a stained glass roundel of the Deans Eye window for them to hang up in their new home. In addition to all of this we were also able to present them with a cheque for £480.
Many thanks to all of you who donated towards these gifts and also to those who prepared and provided the splendid tea after the service. Jamie's Induction service will be held in Stilton Church on Thursday 10th January 2013 at 7pm but he fully understands that the timing and date of the service may make it difficult for people to travel to be there with him, although (weather permitting) John, Liz, Chris and myself are hoping to be present. However it would be good if we could all continue to hold him and Linda in our prayers as they settle into their new home, new parish and new responsibilities.
