A visit from some Evacuees

Interest in wartime evacuees has been aroused following the visit of two sisters from Hull, who were evacuated from Hull to Horbling and Billingborough in 1940, and were billeted with families, and attended school in the two villages. Their names were then Brenda, and twins Joan and Jean Leckie. They would like to hear from any of their contemporaries, who might remember them.
We had a very informative day reminiscing with them both in Horbling and Billingborough. Many thanks to Ray and Yvonne Draper, who came along to have some tea with them at Horbling Church. Ray remembered the sisters from when they were all at school together and found some photographs taken of them when they were evacuees. You can see photographs of Ray and Brenda and Joan below remembering the 1940s.
