 The Reverend Moira Astin is the Priest in Charge at St Lawrences, and the Area Dean for North Lincolnshire.  She leads the team of clergy and lay people who serve the church and the town of Scunthorpe.  As Area Dean she represents the Church of England as it works with the Local Authority and other groups in North Lincolnshire.  Moira is also the Acting Priest in Charge at All Saints Brumby

 


Before coming to Scunthorpe in June 2011, Moira was the Vicar at St James, Southlake in Woodley near Reading and the Ecumenical Officer of Oxford in Berkshire.  She has also been part of the General Synod of the Church of England.

 The Reverend Ellen Wakeham is Assistant Curate at St Lawrence's Church.  She hails from a rural parish in Kent, which is also dedicated to St Lawrence.  She read English Literature at the University of York before working with a rural development project in Tamil Nadu, South India.  On returning to Kent she became a youth volunteering worker with the charity VSU Youth in Action.

Ellen spent three years training at Westcott House, Cambridge, during which she studied at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge and Yale Divinity School.

The Reverend David Swannack is also Assistant Curate at St Lawrence's and is proud of the fact that he is a 'Lincolnshire lad' having been born in Gainsborough and spending most of his adult life in Grimsby. Having trained at Mattersey Hall Bible College in 1986-89 he spent 14 years working for Halifax Plc, first in housing and banking and then in middle management roles in North Region, before spending the next 9 years of his life as General Manager of a faith based inter-denominational charity  in North East Lincolnshire, CARE, working with families and single people who were suffering disadvantage and poverty.

In his latter years at CARE he trained in preparation for ordination with Lincoln School of Theology and East Midlands Ministry Training Course and currently serves on the board of Harbour Place Day Centre in Grimsby and is also Chairman of Humber Region YMCA.
