Carr Dyke Group of Parishes working together in the Diocese of Lincoln

Welcome

So called from the Roman canal called the 'Car Dyke' that runs through the parishes.

The canal was thought to have been initiated during the reign of the Roman Emperor Agricola and served the purpose of transporting men and materials through the fens from Peterborough by barge first to Lincoln, then by the Fosdyke canal to Torksey and finally by Trent and Ouse to York. This was their water-highway.

Today the parish group consists of the villages of Billinghay, Martin, Martin Dales, North Kyme, South Kyme, Tattershall Bridge, Timberland and Walcott.

We hope you enjoy your visit to our site and all comments will be listened to.
